The Lake

 

Wander Around The Lake, is a scene I created in Unreal Engine 5 using the Procedural Content Generation Tool (PCG). I wanted to take the hand of Unreal Engine while discovering some of the engine’s latest features.

 

Hence, I created this small project featuring multiple assets from Quixel. I tried to make a realistic and aesthetic environment even though it has nothing to do with my field of work, as I show an interest in cinematography.

 

In this scene, the whole forest was designed with PCG. This brand-new technology allows users to define an area in which points will be created. From there, I used multiple mathematical functions to scatter the points in various sizes and rotations. Finally, I assigned the assets I wanted to see in the area, and set their weight depending on whether or not there should be plentiful.

 

The lake in itself also uses PCG to shape the terrain. In the end, everything is designed to follow the tool’s ambition : defining an adjustable space you can easily move around.
